May 31st is the opening of Pedro Hoz's first exhibition in the Museum at the Centro de Arte Tomás y Valiente (CEART) in Fuenlabrada, Madrid
Pedro Pablo Hoz Domínguez (Málaga, 2000), will be presenting a series of works that navigate between tradition and contemporary art. His anthropomorphic figures will be present in this new exhibition at the CEART Museum. The artist, once again, will surprise us with his surrealist characters that coexist in a fantastic world, full of sensuality, with touches of humor and winks to art history.

Pedro is fascinated by delicate and minuscule objects, which he conveys with memories of his past that emerge similar to the borders of a medieval manuscript. These objects also convey his enormous symbolic world, in which the eyes function as rich jewelry that the bodies use to cover themselves with ornaments.

Works such as “Retrato holandés formado por antropomorfos sin rostro” or “La Princesa Felicia” are clear references to Flemish painting, as is the still life “Sin título” (Untitled). These references permeate through the artist's lens, showing his ability and skill to transform what appears to be a person into an organic, anthropomorphic form. Not only inspired by this period, Pedro tries to unify his passion for Picasso, Dadaism and Surrealism in new and original works.
Works such as “ Visión antes de morir” or “El gabinete” follow this anthropomorphic poetics, presenting an amalgam of characters in an undefined space, similar to an underworld of El Bosco. The artist will not only present canvases, but also drawings, in which he reflects on the essence and origins of his artistic interest, paper and pencil.
