The acclaimed Spanish artist Edgar Plans has designed the official poster for the Champions League quarter-final match between PSG and Barça taking place on April 10th, 2024 at the Parc des Princes stadium
Today, Wednesday, April 10, 2024, is an important day for soccer fans as the Champions League quarter-final match between PSG and Barça takes place. And the artist Edgar Plans, as a fan of soccer and sports in general, has designed the official poster for this match.
The Madrid-born artist Edgar Plans, living in Gijón is internationally recognized for his unique "Animal Heroes" characters, who represent celebrities or people who simply fight against social injustice, climate change and the issues that affect us all.
Edgar Plans is a big sports fan, he regularly practices cycling in his hometown but he also represents in his works his favorite sports: basketball and cycling. We have recently seen works such as "John Stockton" and "AIR, Tribute to Michael Jordan" displayed in his solo exhibition at Tang Contemporary in Hong Kong, representing famous basketball players.

Plans has also paid tribute to the great writer Haruki Murakami (Kyoto, 1949 -) in his work "Murakami tribute" representing the writer as one of his "Animal Heroes". Like Edgar, Murakami is a regular runner, who completed his first ultramarathon in 1996 and talks about this sport in his book "What I Talk About When I Talk About Running", 2008, as we can see in this drawing by Plans that represents the writer running and writing at the same time.

On a Parisian background, a soccer field and the announcement of today's game and next week's upcoming match, there are some of the protagonists of this matchday. The composition of the work is obviously divided between PSG and Barça; in the upper left triangle are the PSG protagonists and in the lower right triangle are the Barça protagonists.
At the top there are PSG players Kylian Mbappé and Marquinhos, while the coach Luis Enrique is on top of the Eiffel Tower, as if it was a scaffolding, as the coach usually does during training sessions. On the lower left side are Barça goalkeeper ter Stegen, captain Sergi Roberto with the number 20, and Frenkie De Jong with the number 21.
